Newland Gallery is located behind Old Hall at 101 Newland in the ancient Dorset town of Sherborne.
It is run by two artists, Miranda Halsby RBA, printmaker and member of the Royal Society of British Artists, and her husband Julian Halsby RBA, a painter of landscapes and figures in oils and also a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.Julian Halsby also works as an art historian and critic, writing regularly for ‘The Artist’ magazine.
The gallery exhibits representational work by contemporary artists and holds three exhibitions a year. Miranda and Julian enjoy exhibiting the work of their contemporaries and fellow artists but are also open to new suggestions for exhibitions. The gallery hosts some charity and community art events and is open on a part time basis.
Recent exhibitions have included the work of the Dorset watercolourist Jake Winkle, the detailed watercolours of Ron Jesty, the graphic work of Harry Bullock and a number of mixed exhibitions.
